Roy Stoppenbach

Bohunk Brewery (since 1991)

Location: Cary, Illinois

Day Job: Electrical Engineer

System: “Mish-Mash” system with SS and Aluminum kettles, Keggle, 5-gal Cooler Mashtun, White pails, Carboys and a hand-cranked Corona mill. I’m always looking for something new to add or replace. Also have a half dozen corny kegs, and a two tap kegerator fridge.

Signature Brews: Olde Stoppenbock, Basic Drinking Ale

Favorite Style(s): Hefeweizen, Dopplebock, IPA, Bohemian Pilsner, etc…

Grow Any Ingredients? Hops—Centennial and Newport. Just planted them in 2006. Had grown Mt. Hood and Cascade at my old house for several years, before moving here in 2003.

Brewing Tips: Read magazines, books and on-line bulletin boards. Talk to fellow brewers who make good beer. Practice, practice and practice your recipes. Join the club and bring samples.
